Pick the overtime rule that matches your shop: Manual, Auto-40 (over 40 in a week becomes OT), or California 8-hour daily overtime. The hours compute correctly before they ever reach payroll.

What the three codes mean — and which mode moves hours between them.
Every timesheet hour lands in one of three pay buckets. The OT mode decides which (in Manual, you decide); your payroll applies the rate.

| ST — straight time | Regular hours at the base rate. | Every worked hour until the threshold: 40 in the week on Auto-40, 8 in the day on California 8-hour. |
| OT — overtime | Hours past the threshold, usually paid at 1.5×. | Auto-40: anything past 40 in the week. California 8-hour: hours 9 through 12 in a day, plus the 40-hour weekly backstop. |
| DT — double time | Hours paid at 2×. | California 8-hour: anything past 12 in a day. Auto-40 never fills DT on its own; type it on any day a job pays it. |
| HOL / PTO | Holiday and paid time off: paid, not worked. | Holidays can auto-fill from the calendar at your standard day (8 hours unless you change it). Neither is worked time, so neither pushes hours into overtime. |
Each bucket exports under its own earn code — REG, OT, DT, HOL and PTO by default, editable per company — so the file carries the codes your payroll system already uses.

Holidays counted right, per company.
A tenant holiday calendar means a holiday is a holiday on the timesheet — coded as HOL, factored into OT math — without anyone remembering to flag it.
